Conociendo el centro de día (CAD) y entrevista / Knowing about the CAD and interview
El pasado día 26 de marzo, por fin, visitamos el centro de atención de día de menores perteneciente a Cáritas. Nada más llegar nos recibieron con una cercanía y un cariño que nos hizo fácil y cómoda nuestra estancia allí.
Comenzamos con una visita guiada por parte de la directora, Nuria Parada Aira, quien amablemente nos enseñó desde la parte de guardería hasta en la que están los propios niños del centro, explicándonos con todo lujo de detalles que se hacía en cada sala y quién trabajaba en ella.
Tuvimos la oportunidad de entrevistar a varias educadoras y a algunos niños que quisieron contarnos su experiencia allí, para todos positiva.
Las educadoras nos comentaron que para ellas trabajar en el centro es muy gratificante, sobre todo, por la conexión que se tiene con los niños. El tipo de estudios que se busca es sobre todo relacionado con la pedagogía y la psicología para saber cuál es el trato que deben recibir los menores. Ellas se encargan de especializarse en un rango de edad cada una y hacen con ellos los deberes y actividades de ocio por las tardes, al terminar el colegio. Para los niños es como una segunda casa ya que están allí todos los días por las tardes y en verano, si pueden pagarlo con alguna ayuda, se van juntos de campamento, también a la playa y a la pista de hielo en invierno.
Ellos cuentan que desde que están ahí todas sus vidas han cambiado para bien: están más centrados en el colegio, le dan cierta importancia a los estudios, alguno aprendió a escuchar y a tratar a las personas y otros que aunque su casa no fuese el colegio comprendieron que se puede trabajar allí también y hacer los deberes o repasar lo que dieron en clase.
En conclusión, les ayudó tanto académicamente como personalmente. La visita concluyó con una entrevista a la directora y a la responsable de las familias. Ellas nos explicaron todo lo que es un centro de día, un lugar donde menores con ciertos problemas en casa pasan las tardes de lunes a viernes y vacaciones. El centro atiende a 15 niños actualmente, sus familias no pagan nada por la atención ya que el dinero es proporcionado por la Xunta. Se les ofrece una ayuda para que prosperen en sus estudios, una atención que generalmente no reciben en casa y es por esto que hacen hincapié en que los niños que ingresan en el centro de día no son el problema, el problema son sus familias. A éstas no les suele hacer gracia que sus hijos asistan pero lo deben aceptar ya que es lo mejor para ellos. Los menores, sin embargo, entran con un poco de inseguridad e incomodidad pero pronto se les pasa ya que ven que su vida mejora con el tiempo, ellos cambian y se sienten mejor, y por supuesto comparten su vida con otros niños como ellos que no acaban siendo otra cosa, que sus amigos. Y para finalizar, algo en lo que todos estaban de acuerdo, era que el dinero que recaudamos con el concierto solidario les iba a servir para muchísimo.
Nos preguntaron en qué lo queríamos invertir y respondimos que en lo que más les hiciera falta, estaba en sus manos. Respondieron que podíamos escoger lo que quisiéramos y tras hablar con ellas de lo costoso y difícil que podría llegar a ser sacar a los niños del centro para hacer actividades de ocio y lo mucho que a ellos les gustaba, pedimos que una gran parte del dinero se destinase a hacer posible lo propio de un niño: jugar y divertirse. Así que una gran parte del dinero se destinará a que los niños asistan a campamentos, parques de atracciones o vayan de excursión, algo que normalmente no hacen o no pueden permitirse pero les encanta.

On March 26, at long last, we visited Caritas children day care center. Nothing more arriving we were greeted with a closeness and a love that made easy and convenient our stay there.
We started with a guided tour by the Director, Nuria Parada Aira, who kindly show us from the side of the nursery, up to where the children from the Centre are, explaining in full detail what is done in each room and who work on it. We had the opportunity to interview several educators and some children who wanted to tell us about their experience there, for all positive.
The educators tell us that, for them, working in the Center is very rewarding, above all, for the connection that you have with the children. The type of studies that they are looking for is mostly related to pedagogy and psychology to know what is the treatment that the children should receive. They are responsible for specializing in a range of age each one, and make with them their homeworks and leisure activities in the afternoon. For children is like a second home ,they are there every day in the evenings and in the summer, if they can afford it with some help, they go together to a summer camp, also to the beach and to the ice rink in winter.
They tell that since they are there all their lives have changed for the better: they are more focused in school, they give some importance to studies, some learned to listen and treat people and others that although his house was not the college ,you can work there also, and do homework or review what the teacher gave in class.
In conclusion, it helped them academically and personally. The visit concluded with an interview to the director and the responsible of the families. They explained us everything all of what a day centre is, a place where children with certain problems at home spend Monday to Friday afternoons and holidays. The Centre takes care of 15 children currently, their families pay nothing for the attention, the money is provided by the regional government. Assistance is offered in their studies, an attention that usually do not receive at home and this is why they emphasize that children are not the problem, the problem is their families. The families don't like too much that their children are attend but must accept that it is the best for them. The children, however, come with a bit of insecurity and discomfort but soon passed them since they see that their lives improve with time, they change and feel better, and of course, they share their life with other children like them that at end, they are their friends. And finally, something on which we were all agree, was that money that we raised with the charity concert would help a lot.
They asked us in what we wanted to invest the money, and we answered that in what more do they lack, was in his hands. They said that we could choose what we like, and after speaking with them of the costly and difficulty is removing children from the center for leisure activities and how much that liked them, we ask that a large part of the money provided to make possible the activities thet belongs to a child: play and have fun. So a large part of the money will go to children to attend to camps, amusement parks, or go to excursions, something normally don´t do or can not afford, but is someting that they love.
